JALAN PEDANG BELIA, KUALA LUMPUR
Located in the residential area of Little India, Jalan Padang Belia offers a localized and ground-up approach to urbanism, characteristics lacking in the commercialized zone of Little India.

The street consists of two distinct halves, one lined with older, adapted shophouses and the other with small, permanent "sheds." the "sheds" serve strictly food-oriented services while the shophouses house restaurants, massage parlors, laundromats, marts and more.

However, with the cluster of pedestrian programs, there is a lack of sidewalk. The sidewalk is consumed by the seemingly homemade "sheds" and the adapted shophouses that extend to the edge of the road. The "sheds" occupy the entirety of the respective sidewalk while the shophouses have permanent extensions that reprogram the sidewalk.

Additionally, during peak hours such as lunch and dinner times, restaurants begin to spill out into the road, setting up temporary seating for their customers. This further pushes the new "sidewalk" into the center of the road that is shared by pedestrians and vehicles.
